Meet the DEI student Trainers 2024-2025

Vero
"I’m a MSc student and diversity-training freelancer. I am currently facilitating workshops on (sexual) communication, inclusive teaching, and diversity in general. I like to work on topics related to consent, diversity and inclusion, and perspective-taking."

Catha
"I recently finished my Bachelor degree in Psychology while currently freelancing as a workshop facilitator for diversity topics. My current workshop topic focuses on the conversation about queerness. It’s not always easy to talk about something unfamiliar, even if you want to be supportive of it. However, it already can help to just take the first step and start the conversation, wherever it may lead. In general, I’m interested in giving workshops surrounding anything including communication, queerness, and diversity-focused topics."

Rikkie
"I am a master’s student who is currently focusing on social behaviour and group dynamics. My areas of interest are climate change, social dynamics, gender and activism. Inclusive language is a passion of mine, it is awesome to help people understand what positive power they hold when gaining the right linguistic tools, either in academic setting or in more private spheres. Previously I have researched intersecting communities within climate activism, and what roles changemakers can play. One day I’d love to host a think tank and research effective social policies."

Omar
"I'm an Artificial Intelligence student with a deep passion for philosophy, music, and photography. I enjoy playing various instruments and capturing moments through my lens. Growing up in different countries, I've had the privilege of interacting with diverse cultures and backgrounds. Known for being a good listener and insightful, I strive to be helpful and make a positive impact in my environment. I'm interested in bringing people together through sincere conversations. To look beyond the surface, allowing compassion to naturally emerge, thus facilitating meaningful change."

Martynas
"I’m a Computing Science student who loves swimming and the feeling of freedom it brings. When I’m not diving into the pool, you can find me exploring nature on hiking trails. I’m passionate about creating inclusive environments and would love to support DEI initiatives. I’m here to help with facilitating sessions, especially on topics like neurodiversity and fostering a welcoming atmosphere for everyone."

Maartje
"I am a student of the bachelor linguistics and did my minor in ‘Gender & Diversity’. I enjoy being able to incorporate my passion for language and diversity into the workshops I give on topics like inclusive language use and communication."

Lars
"Hi! I'm Lars, 23, doing a BA in American Studies. I'm mostly interested in giving workshops on queer and trans+ topics, as well as on decolonisation, self-care and wellbeing!"

Davian
"My name is Davian, my pronouns are they/them, I’m 24 years old and I study artificial intelligence. I’m passionate about theatre and I’d describe myself as an outgoing and curious person. There’s a wide variety of topics I’d like to give workshops or talks about, such as neurodiversity, personality differences, AI bias, socioeconomic privilege, LGBT+-related topics and ethical non-monogamy."

Ana
"I’m currently studying Computing Science. I am interested in giving workshops on social safety and accessible events. I approach topics with experience from my own board year and committee work as an active student. I hope to create safe environments for students to enjoy their study years through working in DEI."

Alex
"I am a student nearing the end of my psychology and AI bachelor’s this year. I have a passion for any topics delving into the overlap and interaction of humans, machines, data, and how this affects our society. Furthermore, my psychological main domain Behaviour & Environment provides me with many interesting insights regarding stereotypes & prejudice, as well as any topics dealing with the improvement of collaboration."

Lieke
"I’m currently in my final year as a linguistics student, and I’ve had the privilege of serving on a student council and the board of a study association. Here I developed a passion for fostering inclusive and positive environments. My work in these roles has taught me the importance of creating spaces where everyone feels valued and heard. I’m particularly driven by issues of social safety and mental health, and I love facilitating open communication and engaging discussions. Through interactive workshops, I hope to empower others to create a more inclusive university for everyone together."
