As an Erasmus+ student, you will receive an allowance for travel and the extra living expenses during your stay abroad. The amount of this Erasmus+ grant is nationally determined every year and linked to the country of destination.
The grant is calculated on the basis of the number of days you will be staying abroad for your study or internship. It is calculated from the first day through the last day that you have to be present at your host university or place of internship. The calculation is based on 30 days in a month, regardless of the month concerned.
The amounts of the grant are linked to your country of destitation. There is also a difference between the amount for studies and that for internships. In addition to a daily allowance, the scholarship also includes a travel allowance. The further you have to travel to your destination, the higher the travel allowance is.

Erasmus+ grant outside Europe
In exceptional cases, it's possible to receive an Erasmus+ grant for a destination outside Europe. When such an opportunity arises after you have applied for a stay abroad, we will get in touch with you. A different type of allowance applies to this type of grant: a monthly allowance of €700,- and a one-off travel allowance linked to the destination, ranging from €275 to €1500. The Erasmus+ non-EU grant cannot be combined with a NL Scholarship, faculty scholarship, or Individual Travel Grant.
Erasmus+ internship after graduation
Through Erasmus+, you can also do an international internship or traineeship after you have graduated. This is only possible within the EU.

Conditions
In order to be eligible for an Erasmus+ grant, you must meet the following conditions:
- You will use the grant to study abroad or to do an internship abroad. For both internship and study, a minimum of 2 months abroad is required.
- You may not live in the same country as the one for your stay abroad. For example: students who live in Germany during their study programme at uu77 are not eligible for an Erasmus+ grant in Germany.
- You must be registered as a full-time student at uu77 for the entire duration of the stay abroad.
- You have been admitted to and have started in the second or third study year (Bachelor) or Master's before the period abroad. This does not apply to internships (check the possibilities with your faculty's International Office).
- You must have gained at least 60 ECTS before you submit the grant application.
- You have not received an Erasmus+ grant for 12 months or longer during your bachelor programme. As a Master's student, you may also apply for a maximum of 12 months.
- You have not applied for an Individual Travel Grant or any other EU grant for the same period as in your application for an Erasmus+ grant.
- You submit all the required documents online. You'll receive information on this via e-mail.
- The internship is fulltime, i.e. at least 35 hours per week
- Your internship does not take place at a European Union related organisation mentioned on
Conditions for Erasmus+ scholarship after graduation
- You arranged the internship during your final year of study
- You have completed the scholarship application before graduating (allow at least one month for this)
- Your internship takes place within the EU
- Your internship lasts min. 2 - max. 12 months
- The internship is fulltime, i.e. at least 35 hours per week
- Your internship does not take place at a European Union related organisation mentioned on
Your internship does not have to be directly linked to graduation, but your entitlement to an Erasmus+ scholarship expires 1 year after graduation. It is therefore advisable to complete your internship within 1 year after graduation if you want to receive a scholarship for the entire internship.
How to apply
If you are a student and you want to go abroad for study or an internship with an Erasmus+ grant, you can register for this via your OSIRIS account (‘study abroad’). If you have questions about internships or studying abroad, please contact your faculty's International Office. They will tell you what steps to take.
If you are going abroad for an internship or traineeship through the Faculty of Medical Sciences, selection is not applicable. In that case, you should submit your application through your OSIRIS account ('study abroad').
Deadline
Faculties adhere to specific deadlines, so get in touch in plenty of time. In general, you should apply to your faculty's International Office at least six months before departure.
Selection procedure
Your faculty's International Office is responsible for the selection of students for their own faculty.
Step by step plan for applying for an Erasmus+ grant
After your selection, go through the following steps to complete your grant application.
1) Online grant application
Shortly after being selected by your faculty, you will automatically receive an e-mail request to start your Erasmus+ grant application. You will receive this email between mid-May and mid-June.
2) Receipt confirmation of pre-application with attachments and further instructions
After you have completed the required details online and returned them to us, you will receive a confirmation e-mail with information regarding the submission of the Grant Agreement (GA) and Learning Agreement (LA).
This e-mail will also contain further instructions for your Erasmus+ grant application. You will also receive a partially completed public transport allowance form from us. You will need to complete this yourself and send it to DUO.
3) Complete your pre-registration yourself
Do this at least 2 weeks before your planned departure. If you have followed the instructions in the e-mail, we will have received the signed Grant Agreement and Learning Agreement back from you at erasmus [at] ru.nl (erasmus[at]ru[dot]nl).
4) Receive Erasmus+ grant allocation letter
We will send you an Erasmus+ allocation letter by e-mail. This letter confirms the provisional grant allowance you will receive.
During you stay abroad
5) Receive e-mail with instructions for finalising your Erasmus+ application
Approximately one month before your scheduled return date
You will receive an e-mail with instructions on finalising your Erasmus+ grant application. This e-mail will explain which forms you still need to sign. Depending on your grant, you will also receive a Statements Form/Traineeship Certificate which has to be filled out and signed by your host institution. Make sure you read the applicable instructions.
6) Submit changes in Learning Agreement 'During Mobility' form
You must complete and submit a change form if you decide to change courses while abroad, if you wish to extend your stay by three weeks or more, or if the circumstances of your traineeship change.
When you've returned
7) Submit a signed Statements Form/Traineeship Certificate, student report, and Transcript of Records
When you return to the Netherlands, there are several things you must do to finalise your Erasmus+ grant. Submit a signed Statements Form (for study) or the Traineeship Certificate (for traineeship) within two weeks after you return. Be sure to complete the online student report, following the instructions sent to you by e-mail. Submit your official Transcript of Records as soon as you receive it from your host university.
Premature termination of your stay abroad
