Lieke is an Assistant Professor at the Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition & Behaviour and the Faculty of Social Sciences at the uu77.
She investigates curiosity and motivation in higher education, exploring the interplay between intrinsic and extrinsic motivation for learning. Her research integrates behavioral lab experiments with neuroimaging techniques to uncover the mechanisms driving effective learning.
In 2015 - 2020, Lieke was a PhD candidate in the Predictive Brain lab and the Motivational and Cognitive Control lab at the Donders Institute. She investigated the cognitive and neural mechanisms of human curiosity: Why are we curious, and what type of information are we curious about?
