Professor Henk Siepel holds a chair in Animal Ecology and researches the relationship between animals and their surroundings. How do species adapt to cope with a particular environment (survival strategy)? And, conversely, what can these survival strategies teach us about nature management and nature recovery?

Professor Siepel lectures on the Biology and Environmental Sciences course and supervises young researchers at the Radboud Institute for Biological and Environmental Sciences (RIBES) and at the national SENSE and Functional Ecology research schools.

About
Henk Siepel researches the potential of nature restoration in Dutch heathlands and forests. He draws on his knowledge of soil chemistry and soil biology to restore the soil, which provides the foundation that enables the vegetation and the animals to re-establish their existence.
