Evening course Dutch for advanced students (B1-B2)

Do you want to learn Dutch and are you looking for a Dutch evening course for advanced students? This course is intended for anyone who speaks Dutch at B1 level and would like to get to B2 level. This course is part of a series that prepare you for the Staatsexamen NT2 (state exam in Dutch as a second language), programme II.

Who is this course for?

This course is a good fit for you if you have completed the Intermediates (A2-B1) course or achieved a similar level. You don't mind several hours of self-study per week.

Pre-requisites to follow this course

  • You have followed 5 years of secondary education in your country of origin

Are you integrating in Dutch society? Make sure to read the information about the civic integration programme and DUO loan.

Certificate

You receive a certificate upon completion of the course, provided you have attended at least 80% of the classes and you have passed the assessment, the result of which will appear on your certificate.

Final level: This course will take you from level B1 to level B2 (CEFR). After the advanced course, you continue with the very advanced course.

What will you learn in this course?

The advanced course will teach you Dutch up to B2 level. The classes focus on speaking, listening, reading and writing. Reading and writing skills are mostly practiced in the time allotted for self-study. Dutch is spoken as much as possible during classes.

Speaking

You can present clear, detailed descriptions on a wide range of topics related to your area of interest. You can take part in spontaneous conversations so normal exchanges with native speakers are reasonably possible. You can actively take part in discussions in familiar contexts and express your views.

Listening

You can understand longer speeches and lectures. You can follow complex reasoning on topics that are reasonably familiar to you. You can understand most news and current affairs programmes on television. You can understand most films in the standard dialect.

Reading

You can read articles and reports that deal with contemporary issues in which the writers adopt a particular perspective. You can understand modern literary prose.

Writing

You can write clear, detailed texts on a wide range of topics. You can write essays or reports, convey information and give reasons to support a particular perspective. You can write letters that explain the personal significance of an event or experience.

  • Standard fee: € 1,176,-
  • RU staff Radboudumc: free of charge (provided that they meet the necessary conditions for Language Policy Courses)
  • RU and Radboudumc employees and alumni: € 1,058.40 (10% discount)
  • WUR employees and students: € 1,058.40 (10% discount)
  • RU students: free of charge, provided that they meet the following criteria:
  1. You meet the 80% attendance requirement. If you do not meet this requirement, you will be charged € 588,-.
  2. You can attend one evening course for free. If you want to follow another evening course, you get 50% discount on the course fee.
