Language course Portuguese for beginners (halfway to A2)

The Portuguese halfway to A2 course will be suitable for anyone who can already understand simple words, sentences and short texts in Portuguese. For example, you should be able to describe something, and be able to indicate your preferences and be familiar with irregular verbs. This course will continue to build on what you learned at the A1 level and will take you halfway to A2 level.

    General

    Entry level

    In order to qualify for this course, we expect you to have knowledge and skills of the Portuguese language at the A1 level. This means, for example, that you should be able to order something in a restaurant, and be able to talk about your daily life and know how to ask and give directions. You should also be familiar with a variety of irregular verbs and a number of different prepositions.

    If you completed the preceding Portuguese for beginners A1 course, you will automatically be able to progress to this course. If you did not complete this particular course, we will invite you to take part in a telephone intake so that we can determine whether this course is appropriate for your language level.

    After completing this Portuguese language course, you will be able to:

    • have simple, short conversations on personal topics;
    • follow broadly everyday conversations on familiar topics;
    • understand broadly short, simple texts (brochures, advertisements);
    • write short, simple messages or emails.

    The course focuses primarily on verbal communication, as well as reading, listening and writing skills. You will also learn more about Portuguese culture.

    To receive a Radboud in’to Languages certificate, you need to attend 80% of the classes.

    This course will help you on your way to language level A2.
