The following topics may be covered in the course:
- discussing a patient’s medical history
- consulting with patients
- explaining diseases
- delivering bad news
- holding phone conversations
- interacting with colleagues
- writing letters and e-mails
- dealing with intercultural differences (e.g. the interaction and communication styles of English speakers)
Structure and form
If several colleagues wish to participate in the course, they will be divided into groups based on their English proficiency, as determined by the Oxford Online Placement Test (OOPT).
Participants can expect to spend approximately two hours per session on self-study. The course has a strong practical focus and participants are encouraged to propose examples from their daily experiences.
Location
The course can be organised on-site or at our location in Nijmegen.
PE points
After the course, participants will receive a certificate from Radboud in'to Languages, for which they can request PE points from the Royal Dutch Medical Society (KNMG).

This course was designed for all healthcare professionals who interact with English-speaking patients, colleagues or partners in their daily work. The course can be taken individually or as a group.
