Strategic Application of Data in Organisations

Data, we have a lot of it, but how can this data be of value to your organisation? During the Strategic Application of Data in Organisations programme, you will learn how to bring about technological innovations or transformations in your organisation. This will help you work in an information-driven way and make informed decisions.

    General

    As a data analyst, you are not the one who creates insights from a large amount of data using special tools and software, but you are the one who recognises opportunities for value-creation with data and AI from a business perspective, and translates these into valuable product and/or service innovations. Being able to be the bridge between the business and data specialists is your added value after completing this programme.

    Within Radboud Management Academy, we apply a unique business vision: the 3D model. From our unique vision, you will learn to reflect on the application of AI, data, digital innovation and transformation in organisations.  At the same time, the programme helps you acquire practical competences. We do this in two parts:

    Part 1: In a composite team of participants, with complementary qualities in terms of data background, organisation, you work on a case study.

    Part 2: You translate the knowledge and models from the training into your own practice. The aim here is to find a case of your organisation where business value is created by an improvement on one or more axes (3D model) using data.

    Something for you?

    • Effectively initiate, design and successfully implement data-based products, services and processes;
    • Recognise and apply relevant techniques. You can collect, make available, analyse and unlock data. Likewise, you can apply AI;
    • You ensure that data or AI solutions contribute to issues of the organisation, and bring this to the attention of decision makers.

    Module 1: The interface of data and organisations

    On the first day of this module, you start with the context of data in organisations. On the second day, we discuss the interface between data and organisations, which forms the basis for the other modules. We introduce the 3d model and look at the organisation's goals and the 3 axes where data and data-driven work touch.

    Module 2: Applying data, data science, AI & machine learning

    These days focus on data processing. You discuss the operation and application possibilities of AI and machine learning and making choices between the various techniques. The focus is always on the business value problem and how to create that value.

    Module 3: Developing value with data-based propositions

    Everything comes together in this module: the relationship between the value for the organisation at tactical and strategic level, and the way data-driven projects, products and propositions can contribute to this. Based on various (data-driven) business models, you learn to better recognise the needs of the organisation and orient information processes accordingly.

    Module 4: Strategic value of data, data strategy and data management strategy

    On the first day of this module, we look at the role data can have in an organisation's strategy and development (strategic value of data), and how an organisation can set up processes and responsibilities to ensure the availability and quality of data (data management and data strategy). Insights from data deserve to be told and shared. This is what we do on the second day of this module. You will learn all about telling and visualising your story with data, about assumptions and messages and sharpening pitches.

    Module 5: Implementing change in organisations

    Data-based products, propositions or projects only get value when they are implemented and used. In this part of the training we focus on implementation and change, using the 3d model. Working with data can also have consequences for people and society. We pay attention to ethics and give an introduction to AVG legislation.

    Module 6: Completion and final presentation of cases

    Online Q&A

    Between modules 4 and 5, there is an opportunity for an optional online consultation moment with lecturers to test the direction and value of the case (approximately 15 minutes).

    Online feedback on cases

    An online feedback carousel will be organised between modules 5 and 6 (3x half an hour).
