This project examines resistance to communication and media messages that imply change and call for action. We seek to understand why people experience resistance, how they express it, and how communication professionals can effectively address it. Additionally, we explore how resistance to change can be encouraged to counter undesirable changes and initiate change by challenging the status quo.
Our research thus investigates the role of communication and media in a cyclical process where resistance to the status quo can drive action and transformation. These actions and changes, in turn, often generate new forms of resistance, ultimately shaping a new status quo.
