The KDC collections are spread between three departments. Learn more about how to access items from these departments.
The KDC manages more than 1,600 archival collections, which can be found in the catalogue. These include archives and records of Catholic individuals and institutions from the Netherlands from 1800 onwards. This includes areas such as culture, leisure, politics, care, welfare, charities, migration, colonial heritage, education and science.
A digital inventory is available for most archives. These can be downloaded via a link in the description of an archive in the online catalogue. If no description is available, please enquire about the status of the archive via the contact form.
Note: that the archives themselves are mostly not available online. To consult them, you need to visit the reading room.
Most KDC archives are public and free to be studied for research purposes. In some cases this access is restricted (e.g. because of privacy reasons) and permission for access must first be requested from the archive owner. The archive description states whether or not permission is required.
If you want to request an archive item to study in the reading room, there are a few steps you need to follow. Learn how to request permission and how to request a record and a workspace

You can find the audiovisual collections through the . These collections include: photographs, murals and posters, slides and film strips, glass negatives, prints, videos, audio documents, designs, drawings, paintings, textiles and objects. Much of these objects have been photographed or digitised and can be accessed or requested online through the KDC. Read more about requesting digitised items here.
The KDC maintains an extensive collection of periodicals, (children's) books, pamphlets and clippings, some of these are digitised. Our library preserves both purely scientific studies and ‘popular’ publications in the form of books and brochures, periodicals (magazines and annual publications), published by, for and about Dutch Catholics from 1800 to the present.
These publications can be found in or our .
To borrow publications from the library collection, you need a campus card or a library card from the uu77 Library. Learn how to order your card.
Note: some publications cannot be borrowed from the library. In that case, you can only view them in the reading room. Plan a visit here.
Did you know that many of the newspapers and magazines from the KDC library have been digitised and can be accessed online via the website Delpher? This is a collaboration with the Royal Dutch Library.
A separate category within the KDC library is the collection of clippings ('knipsels' in Dutch). This content may originate from newspapers, but it also includes independent sources, such as press releases from the Algemeen Nederlands Persbureau (ANP), obituaries, and photocopies from bio- and bibliographical reference works.
Clippings can be found in the KDC catalogue (similar to the archives and the audiovisual collections). Try to use the keyword ‘knipsels' in your search action.
