Grant for Strengthening our Digital Competence Centre

Open Science NL is investing €15 million to strengthen local and thematic Digital Competence Centres (DCCs). uu77 also has good news: its grant application for the appointment of two new specialists for its DCC has been approved.

As the use of computational methods in research continues to grow, so does the need for researchers with adequate digital skills. However, many researchers still lack formal training or knowledge in these areas, leading to a rising demand for training, particularly in basic skills. Additionally, improving the interoperability of research data remains a challenge. While much attention has already been given to ‘findability’ and ‘accessibility’, data without proper interoperability is not fully reusable.

Continued investment

With the funding from , uu77 will appoint two new specialists: a Community Manager Interoperability and an Open Research Software Trainer (both at 0.5 FTE for a period of four years). "With previous grants, we have already made significant progress in making research data more findable and accessible. Additionally, we are developing guidelines for research software and helping students better prepare for the academic world through the ‘Research Data Management for Students’ programme," says Roger van der Hoeven, Team Leader Research Support. "Thanks to this new grant, we can continue investing in the accessibility and reusability of our researchers’ valuable research outcomes."
