Hiring students: how does it work?

Placing a vacancy or a placement request is possible if you are registered by Campus Detachering as a requestor for the department. Do you not (yet) have these rights? Then contact one of the requesting colleagues or look further under 'I want access to the CD Online Portal'.

Are you still looking for a student to fill the position? Then you can submit a vacancy request via: 'Submit a vacancy'. The recruitment and selection is done by the relevant department; Campus Detachering only supports with the publication.

Have you already found a student for the position and do you want to place this via Campus Detachering? Then submit a placement request via the CD Online Portal. More information about this can be found via: 'Submit a placement request'.

Do you want to deploy a student with a nationality outside the EEA? Then pay close attention! There are special rules attached to this. More information about this can be found via: ‘Hiring of students from outside the EEA'.

I want access to the CD Online Portal

There are 3 different types of roles possible in the CD Online Portal:

• Requestor: in this role you can submit placement requests and vacancies, change placement budgets and request extensions of placements. You have insight into all data concerning the student deployment within a specific department.

• Approver: you can approve the hours of the students who fall under your authorization. You can also view the placement data of these students.

• Consulter: You have insight into all data concerning the student deployment within a specific department. However, you cannot make any changes to this (so only for consultation).

If you need one of these roles, please contact one of the authorized contact persons within the department. They can submit a request to us to grant this role. You can of course also inquire with us if it is unclear to whom you can make this request within the department, we will be happy to help you further!

Submitting a vacancy

If you are registered as an authorized contact person, you can submit a vacancy via /medewerkers/services/campusfaciliteiten-gebouwen/student-inhuren. If you have any questions about this, please do not hesitate to contact us! Are you not yet registered as an authorized contact person? Submitting a placement request

If you are registered as an authorized contact person, you can submit a placement via the CD Online Portal (https://campusdetachering.flexportal.eu/). You can find the instructions for this under ‘Documents’. If you have any questions about this, please do not hesitate to contact us!

Hiring foreign students

Does the student have a non-European nationality? In that case, a work permit (TWV) is usually required to allow the student to work. Campus Detachering applies for this at the UWV. Please note that the application for a TWV takes 5-6 weeks and without a valid TWV, the student is not allowed to work. Under the work permit, students are allowed to work a maximum of 16 hours per week. These 16 hours apply in their entirety: so also when a student has another part-time job. The legislation regarding the deployment of students with a TWV is very strict. Violation of this can also have serious consequences for both the student in question and the university. Costs of student deployment

The current wage and rate list is available in the CD Online Portal, as well as an advice do determine the correct salary scale. Do you not have access to the CD Online Portal (yet)? Studying and working from abroad

As it is very easy these days to do your work from home or another location, working from abroad may seem like a great idea. However, there are a number of risks and rules associated with working from abroad. We would like to inform you about the possibilities.

First, the good news

As a student, do you work in the Netherlands first? And then a maximum of 1 month from abroad? That is allowed: there are almost no risks.

Are you going to work from abroad for longer than 1 month?

Then, unfortunately, this is not allowed via Campus Detachering. This is because we then have to deal with local labour and tax laws. These vary from country to country.

For example:
1.    Social security contributions. These have to be paid abroad (we have to hire a company abroad to do this).
2.    An A1 certificate may be required.
3.    The labour law of the country from which work is done may apply.
4.    There is a risk of reduced data protection. A data breach is untraceable (when, how and where).

Because of the relatively small jobs (few hours), high costs and the often complex organization, it is not possible for Campus Detachering to carry out tax and social security payments in this way.

For these reasons, students are allowed to work from abroad via Campus Detachering for a maximum of 1 month. However, you must have been working in the Netherlands via Campus Detachering prior to this.

Global Staff Services

Is it necessary to work abroad for a longer period of time, for example because no other student can be found who can do the work from the Netherlands?

In that case, we are happy to refer you to Global Staff Services: GSS.
