AON private insurance for international students

International students who are not (completely) covered by Dutch public health insurance and/or are in need of supplementary insurance like liability, legal, and accident insurance can arrange this with private insurance brokers. Whether you’re an exchange student or a full degree student, we recommend you to take a look at the AON Student Insurance.

Webinars

AON Student Insurance organises free, online webinars in which they tell you all you need to know about insurance in the Netherlands, including information about the healthcare system in the Netherlands, what to do when you need a doctor, and the insurances AON has to offer.

You can re-watch webinars that were organised earlier using the links below.

AON Student Insurance

International degree-seeking and exchange students who are not entitled to Dutch public health insurance and are not eligible for EHIC are required to arrange private health insurance during their stay in the Netherlands. AON Student Insurance provides you with basic health insurance in case of any medical bills, including (worsening of) pre-existing medical and psychological conditions and dental emergencies. In addition, it covers any costs of repatriation, liability, accidents, luggage and/or home contents and legal assistance.

International students who already have a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) or a Dutch Basic Health Insurance are also advised to arrange additional insurances such as liability and accident coverage. AON Student Insurance provides this additional insurance at a reduced premium.

AON Student Insurance for students needing a Dutch Residence permit

The Student Admissions Visa Team will arrange the AON insurance for the first year of study of all international students who need a residence permit to study in the Netherlands. For students who receive a scholarship or grant from uu77 that covers insurance, the Student Admissions Visa Team will arrange the AON insurance for the duration of the scholarship or grant.
