Anne Lieke Ebbers is a PhD Candidate in International Economics & Development at the Department of Economics. She joined the Department of Economics as a PhD Candidate after graduating Cum Laude with an M.Sc. in Economics from uu77, where she specialized in International Economics & Development, and being a Junior Teacher at uu77 for two years after graduation.

Anne Lieke's major research interests are children's rights, child protection, child protection systems, economic and human development, poverty, and inequality in low- and middle-income countries. The research focuses on questions, such as: how do child protection systems affect child protection outcomes like child marriage and child labor? And what factors determine the effectiveness of child protection systems? Mainly large-scale data analysis is used, but other methods - such as meta-analysis - are also being used.

Anne Lieke is also part of the Global Data Lab team. The Global Data Lab (GDL) is an independent data and research center at the Nijmegen School of Management of uu77. Building upon over 500 household survey datasets from the major data providers for low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), GDL has built one of the largest existing databases for LMICs, containing information on over 35 million individuals in 130+ countries. Based on this infrastructure, GDL performs research and develops specialist databases as well as indices and instruments for monitoring and analyzing the status and progress of societies.
